They have recently gained protection in the north-west of Victoria where they are listed as vulnerable to extinction. Historically, interconnections between nature and culture played an essential role in the maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem health. The marginalization of cultural and ecological keystones results in the degradation of ecosystems, the loss of traditions and cultural diversity. The montage includes details from an 19th century intaglio landscape and type, with the artists photo of a captive dingo from Healesville Sanctuary in the foreground.
